If there is one character which is more popular than the trio of Rey, Poe, and Finn then it’s Kylo Ren. The villain turned hero Kylo Ren captured fan hearts from the very beginning. He has introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). Kylo Ren is played by Adam Driver and he is the child of Princess Leia and Han Solo. His original name was Ben Solo and he was trained by his Jedi uncle Luke Skywalker. But Ren got seduced by Supreme Leader Snoke to the Force’s dark side and aspired to be powerful, just like his grandfather Darth Vader was.
Those who have seen the last movie in the trilogy will know that he gets redeemed and helps Rey in the fight against her grandfather, Emperor Palpatine. But it is his journey towards his redemption that defines him. As such Kylo Ren is a very interesting character to cosplay for sure.
Why cosplay Kylo Ren
Kylo Ren is initially introduced to viewers as a dark warrior who has a very mysterious past. Ren was neither a Sith nor a Jedi, instead, he was a result of both of the sides’ teachings. Once upon a time, he was apprenticed under Luke Skywalker but he killed other students and made Skywalker go into exile. He then became a First-Order Lord and served Snoke. His mission was to fully eliminate the Jedi.
In the course of the three movies, Kylo has tortured Finn and killed his father Han Solo. Killing his father was supposed to give him peace, but it just increased the war within himself. He remained as lost as he was.
Kylo did attempt to kill his mother Leia Organa but couldn’t accomplish that. Along with this family ties, he saw that he became more linked to Rey who had the power of the force too. Later on, he saw Rey as an ally and when Snoke ordered Ren to murder Rey, he instead killed Snoke with Luke’s lightsaber. But since Rey didn’t fall in line with his plans so he put the blame of Snoke’s death on Rey and made himself the Supreme Leader of the First-Order.
Kylo Ren did try to kill Luke Skywalker too but discovered that he was just a projection. His repeated attempts to have Rey join his side failed. Ultimately Ren did kill his mother. His father’s consolation that he still loved him made his return back to being Ben Solo. He then helped Rey defeat Sith Lord and healed her by giving his own life. He then passed into the force.
As such Kylo Ren’s journey has been tumultuous which makes him such a fascinating and exciting character to portray.
Kylo Ren costume
Kylo’s costume has changed a lot between the three movies, even though his basic suit is an all-black suit with a cape or shawl.
In The Force Awakens, he wore a full black suit with a helmet and a hood. He also has a cape/shawl draped across his shoulders. Of course, there’s the belt as well.
In The Last Jedi, the full black suit remained the same, but the helmet wasn’t there and the shawl has been eliminated in favour of a full black cape.
In the last movie of the trilogy, The Return of Skywalker, the full black suit remained but now along with the black cape the helmet was back.

Kylo’s entire costume is very easy to cosplay and this is made easier because the entire costume is in full black. You can either choose to make the costume at home or buy it from an online site.
